Kent, ‘The Garden of England’ is the spiritual home of Taittinger. Their long history with the county and its perfect combination of chalky soil, similar to Champagne, and climate provided the foundation of place. The quintessentially beautiful village of Chilham, close to Canterbury, its home.
Covering 125 hectares, 60 hectares of the Domaine Evremond estate is planted with the classic grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, with a further 10 hectares planned for 2024.
With the perfect combination of deep, free draining chalk soils, south facing slopes and the ideal altitude some 50 to 90m above sea level, the original site of Stone Stile Farm's apple and pear orchards, close to the archetypal Kent village of Chilham became the natural home to establish the Domaine Evremond estate.
Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty the winery, along with the Cellar Door, is located at the heart of the estate. Designed by a leading French architect and built by an expert UK team, it is a true example of collaboration in the spirit of Domaine Evremond.
Built with sustainability at the fore, the majority of the sympathetically designed winery is subterranean and provides a natural gravity-led winemaking process. The design allows an uncompromising approach to quality winemaking.
Maintaining the natural balance and beauty of our environment has been a critical consideration in the Domaine Evremond journey and will continue at the forefront into the future. In the vineyard, the UK team are committed to following the high standards set by Taittinger, in the winery, environmental and biodiversity enhancements have been incorporated into the careful design.
